The Zambia Information and Communication Technology College (ZICTC) and the University of Zambia (UNZA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in addition to the already existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),allowing the college to roll out post and undergraduate studies in the areas of telecommunications, electronics and ICT through training Research and consultancy.
The agreement is designed to facilitate a professional working relationship between the two institutions as well as enhance and promote professional collaborations
Speaking when he witnessed the signing ceremony in Ndola , Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet and National Coordinator SMART Zambia Institute , Dr Martine Mtonga implored the Zambia ICT college to take full advantage the opportunity besides preparing the current and next generations of Zambians for today’s digital society but should also be ready to train and re-skill its members of staff so that they reach the levels of UNZA staff.
Dr. Mtonga said, that training providers in the country should take advantage of the state of the art ICT infrastructure that government has already provided at the college to ensure that wherever possible, educational materials and other resources are made available electronically to enhance the continuous professional development for the citizens.
Speaking earlier, Zambia ICT College Executive Director Betty Bweupe said one of the institution’s goals was to provide excellence in academic through strategic partnerships with other institutions such as the one that was being witnessed.
Ms. Bweupe said the signing of the MoA was an addition to the already existing MoU between the college and UNZA and that this partnership with UNZA raises the bar for the college even higher.
And UNZA Vice Chancellor Luke Mumba said the facilities, human resource and curriculum available at ICT were what prompted UNZA to add the college to its list of affiliates.
