CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM ON ICT AND E-GOVERNMENT SERVICES UTILISATION AND ACCESS COMMENCED

The Electronic Government Division (Smart Zambia) through the Change Management Unit has embarked on a capacity building program to equip citizens with knowledge and skills in ICTs and utilisation of electronic Government services.
The program is aimed at increasing digital literacy in the country, promoting a wider use of ICTs by the citizens and facilitating access and utilisation of electronic Government services.
It is anticipated that equiping citizens with knowledge and skills in ICTs and utilisation of Electronic Government services will save time, resources in terms of transport money and reduce queues in Government offices as citizens will now have the capacity to access E-Government services in the comfort of their homes, offices or wherever they are. This in return will increase revenue collection, promote quality service delivery and guarantee transparency in the delivery’s of government services to the citizens.
To commence the program, Smart Zambia conducted a pioneer training of 100 citizens in ICTs and E-Government service access and utilisation in Lusaka. Participants in the training included public service employees and students among others . The training was conducted at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) campus in Lusaka.
