LUSAKA, 31ST MAY 2024 SZI… SMART ZAMBIA INSTITUTE LAUNCHES THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION CHANGE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICE 2023 – 2026.
SMART Zambia National Coordinator, Mr. Percy Chinyama, thanked the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Management Division for the ongoing reforms, such as delegating certain functions of the division to various ministries.
He highlighted that the SMART Zambia digital strategy aligns with the broader Change Management Strategy launched by the Cabinet Office, integrating with the government services provided to citizens.
The primary benefit of this strategy is enhanced data management, crucial for improving record-keeping within the government. By introducing digital services, the government aims to operate with greater accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency, making digitization unavoidable.
Mr. Chinyama acknowledged the common fear and resistance to change, emphasizing that the strategy is designed to help people feel comfortable and embrace the digital transformation agenda initiated by the division. This strategy will instill confidence in the digital transformation process. The public service has grown significantly, with a substantial increase in the amount of data being processed, and this transformation will aid in managing big data effectively.
He noted that the digital transformation journey will not be easy but urged everyone to embrace this opportunity with open arms and minds. This will help build a more effective, efficient, and responsive public service that meets the needs of citizens.
