SMART ZAMBIA ENHANCES NAMWALA TOWN COUNCIL’S INTERNET CONNECTIVITY UNDER LAST MILE INITIATIVE

SMART Zambia has successfully configured an internet panel at Namwala Town Council, boosting the local authority’s internet connectivity under the Last Mile Internet Connectivity project.

A combined team of SMART Zambia employees from Lusaka and Southern province worked tirelessly to complete the installation.
The installation included several key components, such as fibre connectivity and configurations, installation of Interruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) in the server room and switch cabinets, installation of fibre patch codes on the switches and router in the main server rack, configuration of the switches, and switching on of all ICT equipment and testing internet connectivity.

ZIAMIS BOOSTS AGRICULTURAL SERVICE DELIVERY

Zambia Integrated Agricultural Management Information System (ZIAMIS), deployed by the Electronic Government Division (SMART Zambia Institute), has revolutionized agricultural service delivery, ushering in a new era of efficiency and effectiveness. By providing a centralized platform for farmer registration, agro-dealer data management, and service delivery, ZIAMIS has enabled the Ministry of Agriculture to reach more farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) with targeted support and advisory services. The system’s real-time monitoring and reporting capabilities have also improved decision-making and response times, allowing for quicker interventions in times of need.

MINISTRY OF LANDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES GOES DIGITAL

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) has successfully concluded a four-day exhibition at Cosmopolitan Mall in Lusaka, which took place from Tuesday, 10th September, to Friday, 13th September 2024.
During this period, the exhibition attended to over 250 clients, providing them with valuable information and services.

In an interview, ICT Officer Ms. Gwendoline Hamabele highlighted the government’s recent adoption of the Government Service Bus (GSB), which hosts the Zambia Integrated Land Administration System (ZILAS) deployed by the SMART Zambia Institute.
