The Directorate  designs, implements and manages  robust ICT Infrastructure comprising Server Farms, Networks and Data Centers in order to facilitate smooth operations of various applications and ensure availability of e-services.

The specific functions of the Infrastructure Management Directorate are as follows:

  1. Design, install, manage and configure networks and sub-networks to ensure seamless availability of e-services and applications
  2. Carry out periodic network expansions, monitoring, upgrades and troubleshooting to ensure availability of reliable operation of infrastructure
  3. Acquire, configure and maintain a robust Server Farm Infrastructure with sufficient capacities for all applications and users
  4. Design, implement and manage core data Center infrastructure to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of backups, business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures
  5. Configure network devices using international standards
  6. Standardize the hardware, operating systems, networks and platforms used to deliver shared data.

It is further broken into two (2) Sections as follows:

  • Network and Monitoring
  • Server Management, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Backups

Network and Monitoring Section

The Section designs, implements and monitors a robust and efficient network infrastructure essential in ensuring smooth operations of various applications and availability of e-services. The specific functions of the Network and Monitoring Section are to:

  1. Design and document network diagrams in order to carry out effective configurations, troubleshooting and network expansions
  2. Allocate and monitor internet bandwidth utilization in order to ensure efficient and optimal use of resources
  3. Monitor network traffic patterns and volumes in order to improve network performance
  4. Carry out network and sub-network device configurations and installations in order to create a robust platform for easy access to e-services
  5. Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability
  6. Carry out periodic network expansions, monitoring, upgrades and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth operation of infrastructure
  7. Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, network operating system problems and other LAN/WAN related malfunctions.

Server Management, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Backups

The Section is responsible for designing and managing a state-of-the-art Server Farm Infrastructure with sufficient capacities, speed and security essential to ensure smooth operation of various applications and availability of e-services. The section will also design, implement and manage backup plans, business continuity and disaster recovery strategies essential for the smooth operations of the data Center to ensure availability of e-services.

The specific functions of the Server Management Section are to:

  1. Plan, create and manage virtual servers in order to facilitate effective utilization of  available physical server space and reduce hardware costs and staffing
  2. Plan, design and implement authorization, authentication and accounting in order to manage access levels to server applications and other resources
  3. Carry out server installations and configurations in order to create e-services
  4. Configure and maintain a robust Server Farm Infrastructure in order to ensure availability of sufficient capacities for all applications and users
  5. Maintain the operational health and stability of the server infrastructure to ensure the smooth functioning of servers
  6. Plan, design and configure remote access to servers in order to facilitate installation, configuration and troubleshooting
  7. Implement server security using recommended international standards in order to ensure safely of date and networks
  8. Design, implement and manage core data center infrastructure to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of backups, business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures
  9. Plan, design and implement periodic data and system backups and restoration in order to prevent data loss due to disasters
  10. Build capacity in ICT disaster management in MPSAs in order to promote business continuity and minimize downtime
  11. Plan, design and implement load balancing and mirroring in order to ensure that the systems are available on a 24/7 basis
  12. Develop and disseminate guidelines for backups, business continuity and disaster recovery processes in order to facilitate un-interrupted access to e-services
